Mission
Girls and Lifelong Strategies Inc. GALS is a non-profit organization
that promotes community awareness of teen relationship abuse and educates
and supports girls through interactive, education workshops, designed to
foster a positive self image and increase self-esteem.
Vision
GALS works within the community along with our partnerships to provide solutions to help end abuse of girls and children today and for future generations through empowerment, advocacy and innovative programs and service.
Our goal is to create a community free of abuse so that each and every home is a safe haven for the family that it shelters.
In order to achieve our vision we must continue to work diligently:
- To Prevent: GALS will become a model for the prevention of abuse of women and children through education, research and evaluation in collaboration with
other community resources.
- To Protect: GALS will ensure through our partnerships that victims of abuse have advocacy, and individual and group supportive services.
- To Prevail: GALS will empower young women and children to have high standards of excellence and ensure that victims of abuse get the proper counseling, assistance and education until such time that they are confident that they can achieve their highest potential, rebuild strong family units and to prevail.
CORE VALUES
- We believe every individual must become more aware of the signs of abuse,
and how to prevent,
intervene and be less tolerant of abuse.
- We believe every girl has the right to say "NO" and be respected
for her decision.
- We believe everyone must strive to improve their self-awareness.
- We believe everyone must seek the positive in life's challenges.
- We believe in YOU!
